Christian Wernicke, born in 1976, studied guitar with Alvaro Pierri and Roberto Aussel and conducting with Reiner Schuhenn at the Conservatory of Music in Cologne. A stipend from the EU enabled him to spend a year of study in Madrid.
He is a regular guest at international festivals, appearing as a soloist, a chamber musician and conductor. He has also participated in numerous television, radio and CD productions and – with the support of the Goethe Institute and the German Foreign Office – has undertaken many concert
tours of countries on all continents.
He has performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the broadcast Symphony Orchestras of the SWR and HR under the batton of Kirill Petrenko, Zubin Mehta or Daniel Harding, with concerts in the Berlin, Cologne and Munich philharmonic halls or the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie.
He engages intensivly in all forms of contemporary music, he is a member Aleph Guitar Quartet and a frequent guest of the “ensemble aisthetis” of the Klangforum Heidelberg.
